Our text this half term is 'Man on the Moon' by Simon Bartrum. This is a fun, adventure story about a spaceman and his daily life as the man on the moon. The final assessed piece of writing is a retell of the main story with some substitution. Objectives covered include:

Plan or say out loud what is going to be written about

Use punctuation correctly – full stops, capital letters, question marks and exclamtion sentences

Use expanded noun phrases to describe and specify

Use subordination (because) and coordination (and)

Sequence events correctly, creating a story that flows

Use paragrpahs correctly to organise ideas

Use a range of openers and conjunctions, inclduing and, but,so, that, meanwhile

Children will have opportuniteis to describe characters and settings. They will also use their own imagination to substitute characters and events.
