Our text this half term is 'The Owl who was afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson. As part of the unit, we will find out lots of information about owls and will use this to write a non-chronological report at the end of the unit. 

Objectives covered:

Plan or say out loud what is going to be written about

Use punctuation correctly – full stops, capital letters, question marks and exclamtion sentences

Use expanded noun phrases to describe and specify

Use subordination (because) and coordination (and)

Organise writing to match its purpose

Use sub-headings and paragrpahs correctly
