Spring 1 Timetabling

PE – Thursday & Friday. Thursday's PE will be taught by our sports coaches and Friday's session will be taught by Mrs Gauckwin.

Spanish (Monday AM)  – Children will have Spanish lessons with Miss Zarrain, our language specialist from Rainford High School.

Science - Mrs Spedding teaches one of our science sessions on a Thursday.

Homework Expectations

Please ensure children complete the following homework weekly:

Reading – Your child will receive a levelled book and children need to be reading this text four times per week. We change reading books when required. Your child also has access to a pleasure book which they keep in their tray in school. This book isn't levelled, but a book they've chosen to read. Children can take these books home to read at both school and home. Making reading part of your bedtime routine is a lovely way to wind down after a busy day and can help children be exposed to a variety of genres and texts.

We also encourage children to read books for pleasure with you at home. These can be borrowed from school or can be books/magazines you have at home. Reading before bedtime is a lovely way to wind down after a busy day and allows for precious bonding time with your child. Please let us know what books your have enjoyed reading together using the book list pages in your child’s reading record.

Times Tables – Children have access to Times Table Rockstars to practise their times tables (link can be found in the 'Maths' tab) and we encourage using this two or three times a week. In Year 4, children take part in a multiplication check so any practise they do now will not only help their arithmetic skills now, but also start to prepare them for their check. If you need a login, please speak to a member of the Year 3 staff. Children are expected to complete 20 sessions of TT Rockstars across the week (Friday to Friday).

SPAG - We are currently trailing a new teaching and learning platform called 'Century' so, for the next few months, children will be set Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar tasks via this platform. Each Friday, tasks will be set and are required to be complete by the folloiwng Friday. There will also be an 'optional' maths task for children to complete.
